The purpose of the Blue Sky Regional Library System’s Portal is to create a shared web presence that will support a level of standardization and increased community capacity throughout the Blue Sky economic and cultural region.  The portal will unify the efforts and resources of the regional library systems to better and enhance the effectiveness of public libraries through in this mainly rural area in Northeastern Ontario. Currently, the libraries participating are: North Bay Public Library, East Ferris Public Library, Bonfield Public Library, John Dixon Public Library (Mattawa), Temagami Public Library, Callander Public Library, Powassan and District Union Public Library, Nipissing First Nation Public Library, and the West Nipissing Public Library. 

Residents will be able to access one portal that will provide them with instant access to a greater range of information resources and services, such as online databases, catalogues, virtual reference services and events, more than any one library can provide.  As well, each participating library will be able to showcase the unique identity of their own communities.

Currently, Portal is under development with a go-live date tentatively set for early summer 2009
